The Prep School Route For Hockey Players

Taking a rest – – – enjoying the silence.

Hope your weekend was great!  Paul and I got up to Collingwood for the weekend and it was probably the nicest weekend of the summer.  The water was so calm for our morning paddleboard – I think everyone else must have been out at the bars on Friday night, because we pretty much had the lake to ourselves on Saturday morning until about 10:30am – it was so beautiful and peaceful out there.

Going Prep…

Last week I hopped on the phone for a little trash talk and hockey player development talk with Gretchen Silverman of the Taft School in Connecticut.

Gretchen had a great career with the US Women’s Hockey Team including an Olympic Gold in Nagano (had to point out the Canada has one every single one since).  In fact Gretchen scored the first EVER goal in a women’s Olympic gold medal hockey game.  Nagano was the first time there was Women’s Hockey at an Olympics.

Anyway, I did more than chirp Gretchen the entire time, she filled me in on taking the US prep school route for hockey development.  I think it is more popular in the US, but I have trained a three athletes who have gone this way to enhance both their academics and their sport.

So feel free to listen in on our short conversation by clicking the link below – you can either listen to it online or download it so you can listen in while you are cutting the lawn or something.
