How To Train Your Hamstrings | Hockey Goalie

Is it enough to have strong hamstrings as an ice hockey goalie?  If you think so, what is the best way for you to strengthen them?

Make sure you tune into this video if you want the answers!  This video will go through level 1, 2, and 3 exercises, so that no matter where you are at, there is something for you.

If you can’t see the video above you can go directly to the link at:  https://youtu.be/8jVnT_rPjP4

Maria will talk about the hamstrings as a part of your posterior chain, rather than as just a muscle. As goalies, you spend a lot of time hanging off of your posterior chain so it’s important that you have stamina, strength, smart muscles in this chain.

Here is what we cover:

LEVEL 1

  • Slideboard – Eccentric Hamstring Curl – 6 (5111)
  • SB Static Hamstring Curl – 6-10 (3030)
  • SB Hamstring Curl – 10-15 (3030)

LEVEL 2

  • Stiff legged deadlift – bilateral, kickstand, single leg – 6-8 (3011)
  • Contra Landmine Stiff Legged Deadlift – 8-12 (3011)

LEVEL 3

  • Nordic Hamstring Curl -4-6 (4011)
