The Easiest Thing Any Goalie Can Do To Improve Performance

Have you ever meet an accomplished pitcher who didn’t do long toss or never did maintenance exercises for his or her shoulder? Ever?

I know I haven’t.

It is part of their culture – now sometimes the things they do for that shoulder maintenance make no sense to me, but that is another story.

My point is, you need to look after your hips the way a pitcher looks after her shoulder.

Most Of You Are Not Meeting The Minimum Requirement…

I am shocked by how many goalies do not have a solid flexibility program that they follow at least 4 days per week. When I ask, “What do you do for your stretching” the response is something like – – “well I do some stuff like for my groins and I try to do the splits as far as I can, then I do a few more stretches for like 10 minutes or so”.

If you are being strategic, you will be able to tell me exactly what you do, how many you do and how long you hold each position.

There will be multi-planar stretching, self myofascial release and some contract/relax work. That is the type of program that will help your body move the way it needs to move on the ice.

So for now, let’s forget about your strength, speed and stamina. Let’s get the basics covered.

Here is a very simple, basic stretch circuit that can be the foundation of your routine.

If you would like a step-by-step follow along stretching program for goalies plus a full off-ice warm up – then CLICK HERE

Or watch this – to know everything you want to know about goalie stretching (maybe even more than you wanted to know).

It is simple – you just need to do it. There is no reason you cannot be a better goalie and this is probably the simplest thing you can do to get started.

PS – if you seriously believe that you have what it takes to become one of the 60 goalies in the NHL (or even get drafted or earn an NCAA scholarship) in the next 5-years or less AND you are prepared to do what it takes to get there – because it ain’t gonna be easy 🙂 then you owe it to yourself to check THIS out.  Don’t click the link if it is just a pipe dream and you know you are not going to take the steps to get there – you won’t be interested.
