New way for goalies to develop specific stamina

By a happy coincidence, one of you asked via Twitter for a new energy system exercise and that is exactly what I have for you today.

As promised in my email the other day when I gave you a complete phase one off-season workout for goalies, I am going to share with you a few of my newest off-ice drills and exercises so you can better separate bona fide training from gimmick.

Today’s drill was inspired by my recent adventures on the ice in full goalie gear. The lateral movements are tough, but once we add in a vertical component, the up and down, it gets infinitely harder (you know what I mean).

So this energy system drill includes; lateral, vertical and a good dose of body dexterity. You will see what I mean in the video….

I love it and the goalies I train hate it, so that means I am doing something right doesn’t it? (insert evil laugh here _______)

I use this more for stamina than speed, but still, don’t get carried away. A 15-30 second work interval followed by 30-60s of active rest is a good ratio with 4-8 repetitions per set depending on the workout.

Okay, so that is one new one – be back in a day or so with another one for you. ‘Til then…

Cheers,
M

PS – This one is included in the new Ultimate Goalie Training Pro module and the only way to get that version is to first do the UGT 3.0 (which has just been reformatted to make it easier for you to follow).

I have knocked over $100 off the price until BOTH the Habs and Rangers are eliminated from the play-offs (one down, one to go), so if you are ready to put in the time, if you are really serious about transforming your play on the ice this season, CLICK HERE to see what it is all about.

Tonight the Rangers face elimination, so this deal could hit the golf course by the end of the night.
