How Get Stronger Legs For Hockey Without Weights

Not everyone has access to basic strength training equipment like dumbbells – a few years ago I showed you how you could make some of your own ‘renegade’ training tools.  These are great solutions that I know many of you are using.

I don’t think there is a much simpler solution than getting some resistance bands.  Most fitness stores, sport stores and even some department stores sell small kits that include a few different tensions of resistance band and interchangeable handles.

It’s almost too simple…

You can do most dumbbell exercises and all cable exercises using this training tool – that will cost $10-$30.  That is a pretty fair investment.  So if your ‘reason’ for not becoming the player you want to be has been related to a lack of equipment – you can cross that off the list and get started with these two exercises that will give you stronger legs for better agility on the ice.

The exercises in the video below are staples for both skaters and goalies.

Do 3 sets of 8-12 each.

Okay – that’s it for me, getting ready to head to NYC – I will update you on the excitement once I get there.

Cheers,
M

PS – did I pack my resistance bands?  You bet!
