In today’s episode I will guide you through a beginner goalie workout for adult goalies who are just starting out, OR are coming back to a completely different position after 10 or 15 years off the ice. TRUST ME, I GET IT… Your body doesn’t move the way it did when you were 17, BUT, when you get out on the ice and your body won’t do what you want it to do… that isn’t just age, it is lack of preparation. Since we can’t control time and age, let’s at least make sure we are as prepared as we can be to step out on the ice and PERFORM. This is a great place to start. These exercises should supplement your existing off ice training, but if you just do these exercises 2-3 times per week for the next 2 weeks, you will still notice a difference.
90/90 Stretch 1 x 30s each – each way
Half Groin Rock Back 1 x 10 each – hold 3s
Lunge Lateral to Balance 2-3 sets of 8 each (11X2)
Knee Down Lateral Hop + Stick 2-3 sets of 4 each
Single Knee Balance 1-2 sets of 45s each
MiniBand Standing External Rotation 2-3 sets of 12 each (2020)
