Hey! Happy Thanksgiving to all of my friends in the U.S. I hope you all have a wonderful day with your loved ones and families! I have celebrated a few memorable US Thanksgivings – – one in Monterey, California back in 1993. After I finished my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, Paul and I drove my 1988 Jeep YJ from London, Ontario to Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory where I lived and trained for skiing when I was 20. Then we drove down through British Columbia (the photo on the right was taken to celebrate the Jeep turning over 100,000kms) – along the Washington, Oregon and California coast where we arrived in Monterey on Thanksgiving Day.
We went to an all-you-can-eat buffet where they had crazy good food and about 6 projector screen TVs with football on them. It was a little bizarre, but super fun! About 4 years ago we also spent a memorable Thanksgiving in New York City which included the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, skating in Bryant Park, a visit to a Scottish Pub where we met some…Scottish people who started buying rounds…it ended badly for all. But that is a story for another day 🙁
Okay, here is the video that goes with the post from Monday. It is designed specifically for hockey refs, but it is a nice little workout that you might want to try. Because refs are on the go the entire time since they don’t get shifts, this is a longer duration energy system workout. If you want to work on more stamina, give it a try.
